Already this year we have introduced some really great songs and some unique creative elements to our services. On the weekend of Jan. 4th/5th, the first weekend of the new year, executive pastor Eric Abercrombie gave a message titled “Filled to the Brim” in the Making Spirits Bright series. We explored the belief that we shine brightest not just in or through our acts of loving others, but in loving them (specifically) the way that Jesus loved. Eric tried to demonstrate that such a love is full of both grace and truth, creating a tension that every believer will bump into at one point or another. (You can stream the whole thing from our websitewww.mynewwalk.com. Check it out!)
At the close of the message I took the stage at the Z’hills campus and started singing a new song titled “Sinking Deep” by Hillsong Young and Free. For much of the song it was only voice and keyboard. It was a reflective and meaningful time of worship, which was shown on the main screens at our Holiday and Dade City satellite campuses. It was at 3:53 in the song that our campus bands, led by Jacob Hill and Vagner Lage, were suddenly and explosively “all in” as they took over the remainder of the song live. It was a powerful moment as it seemed that we were all worshiping at the same time to the same song. I’m so grateful for Pastor Eric’s vision for the closing of that message… it was a truly incredible moment.
In addition to “Sinking Deep”, here are a few other songs we’ve introduced within the last couple months.
- “This Is Amazing Grace” – Phil Wickham (Phil’s latest release, “The Ascension” is fabulous. Definitely download worthy.)
- “Build Your Kingdom Here” – Rend Collective Experiment (feat. Pastor Eric on Banjo and Kevin Fields on a Jingling Johnny)
- “Mighty Warrior” – Elevation Worship (From their newest release, “Only King Forever”)
- “I Don’t Want To Be” – Gavin Degraw (special)
- “Baby Boy” – For King and Country (Christmas) and others…
We will continue to strive for excellence and bring God our best from the stage in 2014! I’m looking forward to new songs, new players, new creative elements, and even writing some new songs for us to worship with! (Yep, you read that correctly. They’ll be more info about that later in the year.)
On behalf of everyone involved with NW Worship, it’s an honor to worship the one true God each and every week with you.
